Hotlinking Protection
What's the aim of hotlink protection? How does it function and when is it helpful to enable it?
Hotlinking is a commonly accepted Internet phrase for linking to another website’s images. To put it differently, if you develop a site, someone else may want to use the images which you have and rather than downloading them from your Internet site and then uploading them to their site, they can simply put links straight to your Internet site. In this way, each time a visitor opens their Internet site, the images will be loaded from your account, thus stealing from your own monthly traffic quota, let alone the copyright issues that can develop or that somebody can be trying to deceive people into believing that they're in fact on your website. In rare situations, documents and other types of files may also be linked in the exact same way. To stop this from happening and to avoid this sort of situations, you may permit hotlink protection for your website.
Hotlinking Protection in Hosting
It will not require more than a number of mouse clicks to switch on the hotlink protection feature that we offer even if this is the first web hosting account you use, since all our hosting plans come with a rather simple and easy-to-use tool that will enable you to prevent direct links to your content. The tool is a component of our revolutionary Hepsia Control Panel, so it offers the same easy-to-use point & click interface. Once you log in to your account’s back office and go to the Hotlink Protection section, you'll only have to choose the domain or subdomain that you'd like to secure from a drop-down list. If you wish to enable this function only for a certain website folder, you've got the option to do that. All websites with active hotlink protection shall appear in this section and you will be able to turn off the service by selecting the checkbox beside the given site and pressing the Delete button.
